ZAKIR NAIK: POPULAR ISLAMIC SUPREMACIST

Zakir Naik is an intelligent man. His popularity is not only a result of trickery and propaganda. He is a serious opponent of religious scholars who talk about the equality of religions. The objective of his discourse is to prove that Islam is the supreme religion. It is best among all options. All other religions are inferior to it. He can be described as an Islamic supremacist, who has devoted his life for converting more and more people to Islam and establish the Wahabi version of Islam in South Asia.   

 Wahabi Islami preaches and propagates 7th century tribal lifestyle in the name of Islam. Saudi Arabia funds the expansion of Wahabi Islam which poses a grave challenge to the modern world in 21st century. It wants all Muslims to follow puritanical Islam exactly as practised and propagated by Prophet of Islam Mohammad himself.

 Zakir Naik runs an Islamic research foundation and peace TV which has more than a hundred million followers. Plenty of videos of Zakir Naik is available on YouTube. Most of them glamorize Zakir for converting Christian, Hindu and Sikh men and women to Islam live on television. Whether these are planted individuals in his public meetings or real incidents cannot be verified.

For many years Zakir Naik and his adverse remarks on Hindus were reported by the media, but he was ignored by the government and majority Hindu community. He made many irrational remarks and criticized other regions by quoting their scriptures out of context. But he was ignored as it was difficult to believe that he will be taken seriously by so many people.

In one the videos Zakir Naik is arguing that he does not believe in the theory of evolution. Islam does not believe in it. Muslims must believe in the theory of creationism. He preaches that Allah/God has created man and woman. Human beings have not resulted from any process of evolution over the millions of years.

One of the reasons for the popularity of Zakir Naik among the Muslims in the Indian subcontinent is low literacy rate, low self-esteem and extreme poverty. When he tells the hapless crowed about the superiority of their religion and their belief and also about the limitations of other religions. He is cheered by his followers as a demigod. Superior-inferior binary matches the caste system and is better understood by people who have seen all this. 

They just accept his preaching without asking for evidence. When one of his followers asked him about the reasons for the ban on pork he gave an amazing logic. He said whatever you eat has an impact on your personality. In the west wife swapping is an outcome of the prevalence of pork. Pig-like behaviour is becoming part of westerners because they eat pig.

The list is endless. He has no qualms in using lies, tricks, concocted truth and illogic to justify Islamic beliefs. One the one hand he preaches Islam to other religious communities, on the other hand, he supports killings of Muslims who leave Islam and adopt other religion.

India may have ignored him but the terrorist attacks by his followers provided enough ground to the government to ensure that this dangerous hatemonger and divisive figure must not get the chance to radicalize the gullible Muslim community in India.

Mukesh Devrari   Banning Tiktok in India is without a doubt a great decision by BJP government after the killing of 20 Indian soldiers at the Line of Actual Control at Union Territory of Ladakh. ­Dawn’s discourses on perpetual Indo-Pakistan enmity

Mukesh Devrari  Abstract   This study is a thematic analysis of columns and editorials published in the opinion pages of Dawn during India’s general elections 2019 to find out how Pakistan’s elite media represents India as a perpetual adversary. It finds out that Dawn’s op-ed pages characterize India as a permanent security threat, destabilizing force, propagandist state, and dominating power conspiring with the United States to harm the interests of Pakistan and China. It also reveals that news columns and editorials consistently claim that Indian media indulges in warmongering, rising Hindu nationalism, and non-state actors contribute to the hostility in both nations.
