KASHMIR ISSUE IS ABOUT WINNING HEARTS AND MINDS, NOT WAR

The large mob can never be a certificate of righteousness. US government decided to throw the body of Osama Bin Laden in the sea at an unknown location, simply because they were aware millions of Muslims from around the world might gather to pay respect to him at this burial site if his body was handed over to his family members. The large crowd which attends the funeral of slain terrorists cannot justify their acts.

India has faced a worse crisis than the current one in Kashmir. When the separatist movement was at its peak in Punjab, many believed that the days of this country are only numbered. There are many who are still writing the obituary of India, but the resilience of this nation will once again prove them wrong.

There was a time when it was urgent for India to fight the farce of political correction tooth and nail created by left liberals. Such a powerful discourse has been created in this country over the years that nationalists were on retreat. Students in our liberal universities were told to feel ashamed for their conviction and commitment to the idea of one strong nation. Now, the reverse is true. Left-liberals are on the run.

India must stand united on Kashmir issue, but Kashmiris must not be harassed by any policemen on any pretext. They should be allowed to live peacefully and pursue their dreams, but at the same time, nationalists must forcefully insist that on certain principles there cannot be any compromise.

The nation-state is an incarnation of God to nationalists. It is new religion. As Muslim cannot tolerate anyone making the mockery of the prophet of Islam or Allah through the cartoons, the nationalists cannot tolerate anyone attempting the destruction of this country. However many find this attempt to establish the moral equivalence between the two (God & Nation State) as offensive.

There is a tendency in our left intellectuals to cherry pick the incidents of violence involving armed forces to conclude that the entire armed forces are corrupt and involved in human right violations. Unfortunately, things are more complex than that. It is not black vs. white.

In a situation like this, no matter what may come it should be made very clear to all, that temporary setbacks cannot break India. We must tell our pseudo-intellectuals that your false and misplaced consciousness cannot defeat the idea of India.

After seeing things from the cruel nationalistic perspective this author decided to revisit his thoughts. Now he is thinking why an ordinary citizen like him should try to become the spokesperson of the Indian state.

end.
