ORDINARY PEOPLE MUST OPPOSE SYRIAN WAR

Mukesh Devrari

Mainstream media in America is preparing the ground for impeachment of President Donald Trump. It seems deep state has taken hold of American policies. Any president who will attempt to disturb the status quo will have a difficult time in the white house. Trump offered hope to many during the election campaign. His supporters believed that America would do away with the futile wars in the Middle East and elsewhere. It will focus more on improving the internal situation, rather than policing the world with its dubious standards.

Just days ago, the US launched 59 Tom Hawk missiles on a Syrian airbase after the chemical attack on rebel-held areas. UN said, “It cannot verify that attacks were made by Syrian Regime without a proper enquiry.” Russians and Iranians opposed the unilateral strike by the US before proper investigation. After the attack renowned US foreign policy expert Fareed Zakaria said, “Now, the Donald Trump has become the US President”.

Here, we are are not talking about some failed state where there are no rules for anyone to follow. We are talking about the world’s biggest economy and greatest military power United The states of America.

US, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Israel, America, United Kingdom and Europe are a part of mob hell-bent on lynching Syria, Syrian people and the Syrian regime. The situation has gone out of hands. Pictures of destruction have made into every household around the globe, but Syrians are paying the price of being Muslims as no nation has shown any empathy with them. Sensitive Europeans have also turned into stone.

Perhaps it is a time for the international community to come up with an international treaty that no nation will launch a crusade against the other nation on any pretext. No nation will attempt to bring regime change in any other nation without the approval of United Nations.

The US is walking on a dangerous path. It is a matter of time before China will eclipse the US economically as well as militarily. What will happen if every powerful nation unilaterally attempted to change the regimes in a smaller and weaker nation?

It is true that Bashar Al Assad is a dictator. There is no democracy in Syria. It is also true the Assad crushed all political opposition in Syria. He treated his opponents horribly. Unfortunately, Syria is not the only dictatorship. China also has a totalitarian regime. Closest US allies in the Middle East are dictators. They will not shy away from crushing any political opposition in their countries.

Can Americans imagine about training freedom fighters or terrorists, whatever you may choose to call them, coming from Tibet or Xinxiang province and use them as proxies to fight Chinese governments. Probably it will lead to world war.

Democracy is desirable in every nation-state, but it cannot be exported through missiles and religious terrorists. When it comes to war the US political class is incorrigible. In Iraq, the US lost 5000 soldiers. More than 100 hundred Iraqis also lost their lives. In the end, what did we get from US adventurism? Nothing. Iraq is one of the most unstable countries in the world today.

Islamic State is a bigger threat. Changing the regime through military force unilateral must not be accepted in civilized countries. If the governments cannot do it, at least ordinary people must oppose the war perpetrated by western countries in Middle East and other parts of Asia.
