Mukesh Devrari The state of J&K is being discussed around the globe. It will remain in the news cycle for the next few days. Abrupt scrapping of article 370 and 35A came as a shock to the nation. J&K is a privileged state of the Indian Union. It has its own constitution. Central laws are not automatically applied to it. Legislative assembly of the state can also decide the rights of state subjects. People from other parts of India are not allowed to buy immovable property, apply for government jobs and avail educational scholarships in the state of J&K. Mukesh Devrari A former civil servant Khalid Bashir Ahmad recently published a book ‘Kashmir: Exposing the Myth, Behind the Narrative’. Respected Kashmiri journalist Shujaat Bukhari who has the expertise to write on the edges of varying narratives emerging from Kashmir wrote a review of the book for the Frontline Magazine. The book is an ambitious attempt by the author to replace the recorded history of Kashmir by the Islamic version. There were certain things in the review which were suggesting how majority Muslims view Kashmiri Hindus in the valley. He was the Kashmiri militant, who used to pose in fancy military uniforms on social networking sites to attract youth to join dreaded terrorist group Hizbul Mujahideen. Kashmir Muslims started protesting after the pictures of his dead body were circulated by the media. What else could have been the fate of an armed militant? Mukesh Devrari Promises of politicians are hollow. There are no exceptions. People believe in false promises amid despair. In the widespread hopeless environment propaganda works better. False promises during election campaigns by BJP went unnoticed. Modi wants all Bangladeshi Muslims to go back to Bangladesh as India is already overcrowded and they are snatching the opportunities and land from local population.
